075 - Marty Jannetty - Epicenter Anthology Interview DVD

On The Rockers: Marty explains that the team was put together by Vern Gagne but they were having trouble finding a name. Gagne wanted to call them "American Express" to follow the series of "Express" tag teams out there. He said that can't fly because it is a credit card. They happened to hear the song "Living After Midnight" and came up with the Midnight Rockers name. Gagne originally thought the fans might think they mean rocking chairs not realizing everyone would get the rock and roll thing.

On the split of the Rockers: Marty says the glass was supposed to be break-away glass, like sugar glass, but wasn't. So, when he went through the window, he went through a real pane of glass!

On the Royal Rumble match in Denver with Shawn Michaels: Marty says they had house show matches that were nothing short of incredible leading up to this but the actual match didn't have it. He says Shawn Michaels had a lot to drink and wasn't himself that day and the thin air contributed to the bad match. But, after that, somehow it was turned onto Marty which is why he took the fall for it.
